The United Methodist Church of Summit, located on the point of Kent Place Boulevard and DeForest Avenue, is celebrating 150 Years of sharing God’s love. September 11, 2017, will mark the anniversary of the Methodist congregation in Summit. The original church, built in 1867, was located on Morris Avenue between Summit and Beauvoir Avenues. In 1889 the cornerstone was laid for the present church at 17 Kent Place Boulevard. Throughout its 150 years, the congregation has shared God’s love through worship, education, mission, and fellowship activities. Our inter-generational and multicultural family invites everyone to join in our many ministries! The United Methodist Church is celebrating this special occasion throughout 2017. Guest preachers from years past are just one of our ways to celebrate. On September 17, 2017, there will be a gala brunch at the Summit Grand Hotel. If you are a past member, or perhaps baptized or married at the church, please join us and celebrate. For more information, please call the church office at 908- 277-1700.
