The Summit Foundation Awards $292,000 in Grants to Local Nonprofits

The Summit Foundation Awards Local Grants

The Summit Foundation has awarded more than $292,000 in grants to 22 local area nonprofit organizations providing vital food, shelter, education, arts, culture, and health services. Some of the grants include:

  • $5,000 to St. Teresa of Avila Loaves and Fishes for household supplies and personal care products for weekly distributions.
  • $15,000 to Bridges Outreach, Inc. for Welcome Neighbors services for homeless and necessity-insecure residents.
  • $15,000 to Promly Support, Inc., for a social media platform that will provide mental health resources and fight teen suicide.
  • $16,000 to PG Chambers School for assistive technology for children with special needs.
  • $8,000 to KinderSmile Foundation for free dental care for children served by GRACE in Summit.
  • $9,000 to New Jersey Bicycle Coalition for construction of a bike depot at the Summit train station.
  • $10,000 to Union County College Foundation for debt relief for students enrolled in Operation Graduation.
  • $5,000 to Somerset County YMCA, Inc., for a summer camp program that will address COVID-related learning losses among K-5 grade students from Plainfield School District. 

The Summit Foundation also provided grants totaling more than $124,000 to support SAGE Eldercare, The Connection for Women and Families, Reeves-Reed Arboretum, and the Visual Arts Center of NJ.

Other organizations receiving grants include Our House Foundation, Pillar Care Continuum, Literacy NJ, Contact We Care, Inc. (Caring Contact), Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, Summit Interfaith Council, Hilltopper Stage Productions, Continuo Arts Foundation, CASA of Union County, and The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison, and Florham Park.

The Summit Foundation fosters philanthropy by identifying local needs and offering donors flexible ways to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors. Since 2010, it has awarded nearly $6.3 million through 454 competitive grants to tax-exempt organizations that serve our area.
