Successful Craft & Talent Show
Linden Department of Parks & Recreation
On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, the Linden Summer Day Camp/Playground program, sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation, held its Annual Craft & Talent Show at the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade. In continuation with the program’s Opening Ceremony that occurred on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, the theme for the event was the Olympics.
As participants, families, and community members walked into the Promenade, they viewed arts and crafts from each Day Camp and Playground site. Every park picked a country and a sport and created a park project to support the Olympics theme. The park project was complemented with table crafts that participants made throughout the summer program.
In the concert area, program participants showed their skills in the Talent Show. Participants had the opportunity to practice their performances throughout the summer and were supported by their counselors. Performances consisted of individual and group acts that included singing and dancing. The audience was highly engaged and gave a roaring applause after each act.
Once the show was over, winners were announced for the Craft Show and Talent Show and awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, just as in the Olympics. Families were able to take pictures of their children on the podium with their medals. The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with those in attendance highlighting the enthusiasm and atmosphere surrounding it.
