St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center Raises Over $9000

It was a purr-fect afternoon. St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center hosted a Cat Tea to raise money to benefit the homeless animals at their shelter. The event, held on Sunday, February 24, 2018, was sold-out, with exactly 85 cat lovers in attendance. Over $9000 was raised from ticket sales, a Tricky Tray, and sponsorship opportunities. There was also a “Cuddle Corner,” where guests could meet cats available for adoption. In addition, there was plenty of food, including tea sampling and gourmet treats; and door prizes.
Nora Parker, Assistant to the Vice President, hosted the event and began by saying, “It may be the Year of the Dog, but here at St. Hubert’s, it’s the Day of the Cat.”
She spoke about the 786 homeless pets who came in to the shelter after the hurricane in Puerto Rico. St. Hubert’s continues to work with Puerto Rico Animal Unite and their website is updated daily.
Then Matt Wildman, cat behavior expert and Vice President of Community Engagement, gave a presentation and read a whimsical poem which offered insights into the mind of a cat. “I’m obsessed with dogs, but I completely worship cats,” he said.
Development Manager, Kim Kancylarz, said that St. Hubert’s currently has over 240 cats in care, waiting to be adopted. The cats are all spayed and natured to prevent unwanted kittens.
St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center is located at 575 Woodland Avenue, Madison, New Jersey. For more information on St. Hubert’s, call 973-377-2295, or visit: sthuberts.org.
