Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel Make Purim Gift Bags

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, volunteers from the Sisterhood of Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains prepared gift bags with groggers, treats and traditional hamentashen cookies to be delivered to the entire congregation before the Jewish holiday of Purim.

Congregation Beth Israel’s Sisterhood also donated Purim gift bags and additional pounds of hamentashen to residents of AristaCare at Cedar Oaks, a nursing home in South Plainfield, and to seniors in the Berg-Lieppe Adult Enrichment Program at the JCC of Central NJ.

In addition, Congregation Beth Israel’s Sisterhood fulfilled the commandment on Purim to give presents to the poor by making donations on behalf of the synagogue to two non-profits that help feed the hungry: the food pantry at the Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey and Leket Israel, the National Food Bank of Israel.
