Summit High School Presents “Something Rotten!”

Spring Musical is Something Rotten!

Summit Public Schools

The Summit High School Performing Arts program welcomes all to the Renaissance and the hilarious, crowd-pleasing musical farce, Something Rotten! presented March 1st through 4th, 2023.

The 2015 Broadway musical was lauded by audience members and critics alike, receiving several Best Musical nominations and hailed by Time Out New York as “the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years!”

Set in 1590s London, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard” – Shakespeare! When a local soothsayer named Thomas Nostradamus foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top also means being “true to thine own self” and that our family is more important than any material success.

After seeing Something Rotten’s large song and dance numbers, its wacky cast of over-the-top characters, and its funny, yet heart- warming story, audiences of all ages will agree that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical”. So don’t miss your chance to see this production by the award-winning Summit High School Performing Arts program!
