The Lovely Bones (2009, PG-13).

Fourteen-year-old Susie Salmon is viciously murdered by her neighbor Mr. Harvey, a predatory wolf with a deceptively mundane appearance. As her family struggles to make sense of their loss, Susie bravely attempts to find her footing in the hereafter. Mr. Harvey is feeling confident that he’s covered his tracks well enough to get away with the crime, and begins honing in on his next victim — Susie’s younger sister.

Bombshell (2017, No Rating), is our movie for September 11.
When Nazi U-Boats torpedo a ship carrying 83 school children during World War II, Hollywood movie star, Hedy Lamarr, decides to exact revenge. At night, after shooting her scenes on set, she works on a secret radio system that will allow the Allies to torpedo Nazi U-Boats with deadly accuracy. The secret communication system she creates is groundbreaking and eventually changes the course of history.

On September 18, the comedy Humor Me (2018, No Rating) will be screened.
Nate, a once-acclaimed New York playwright, is struggling to finish his new play when his wife leaves him. Desolate, broke and unable to pay the rent, Nate begrudgingly moves in with his widowed father in his New Jersey retirement golf community. Meanwhile, Nate stumbles on a senior citizen theater troupe staging a musical. Nate agrees to help but quickly realizes it won’t be easy to get these quirky senior citizens to cooperate.

Our final movie of the month, on September 25,

This series of lectures will end in early December. Bring your lunch; coffee, tea and cookies are provided. Come early to get your seat!

“Saving for College”, with Matt Wegryn on Thursday, September 6 at 5:30 p.m..
While a college education is a worthwhile investment, it’s forcing many students to take on significant debt in order to attend.
