Roselle Park PD participates in Police Unity Tour

Team Roselle Park participated in a 4-day, 320-mile bicycle ride from Northern NJ to Washington DC to remember fallen police officers. The Police Unity Tour was formed in 1997 and its mission is to raise public awareness about law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.

The Roselle Park Police Cycling Team consisted of Sgt Medrano, Officer Kot and Officer Matthews. They rode for Roselle Park retired Captain Manuel Jimenez, who passed away from cancer while assisting in the 9/11 recovery efforts, and Officer Bobby Shisler of the Deptford NJ Police Department who recently passed away as a result of a gunshot wound he endured during a foot chase in March.

The officers rode with hundreds of law enforcement officers to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. They arrived in Washington D.C. on Friday, May 12, after completing the last leg of the ride from Annapolis, MD, alongside members of the Cranford, Summit, Kenilworth, Westfield, Springfield police departments, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and Federal partners in the USSS.
