Congratulations to retired Summit Common Councilman Robert Rubino, recipient of the 2019 New Jersey Recreation & Parks Association Fay Matheson Award for outstanding work by a volunteer to promote parks in New Jersey. Dr. Rubino is a founding member of the Summit Park Line Foundation and is working to create a new park in Summit, the first in over 80 years. The Summit Park Line project would establish a linear trail for pedestrians and bicyclists along the previously abandoned Raritan Valley Rail Line stretching from the Springfield, NJ border at Briant Park past Overlook Hospital to Broad Street in Summit.
