The Eagle Scout rank is the highest recognition that Scouting offers. It is earned through the advancement program — learning and demonstrating dozens of scout skills, earning at least 21 merit badges, leading a substantial community service project, all while remaining committed to our troop and to moral living. This they must accomplish before they turn 18. A very small percentage of boys who begin in Scouting are recognized with this honor. The wearer of the Eagle Scout award is the epitome of Scouting’s best efforts and beliefs.
This rank was earned recently by three of our scouts: Frank Pauling, Marcus Myers III, and Daniel Wilkins. All Rahway residents.
Frank Pauling earned his badge in 2007 and was presented with it officially this year He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and is now a Rahway police officer. Frank’s Eagle Scout service project was to build a nature walk and sitting area near the Rahway River.
Marcus Myers plans to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corp. He is graduating from Rahway High School. Marcus’s Eagle Scout service project helped in the construction and completion of a 3D art mural that is now installed in the Hamilton Stage parking lot.
Daniel Wilkins has been accepted to New York University with a full academic scholarship. He is graduating from Union County Magnet School. Daniel’s Eagle Scout service project oversaw the mapping of Rahway flood plans onto updated maps to help the Environmental Commission prioritize which properties are most in need of federal buyout assistance.
