Rahway Knights Collect Nearly 88 Thousand Aluminum Pull Tabs

On November 1, 2016 the Knights of Columbus Council #1146 Rahway NJ delivered 87,930 aluminum pull tabs to Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick NJ.
The annual collection drive, sponsored by the Council and with the support of the Columbian Club, culminated with 90 lbs of pull tabs. According to officials at Ronald McDonald House it takes 977 pull tabs to equal 1lb or 87,930 tabs to equal 90lbs.
The pull tabs are then sent to a recycling center where Ronald McDonald House receives greater than fair market value per pound.
The funds are used to offset the costs of housing at Ronald McDonald House in New Brunswick which is free of charge to Families while their child is receiving treatment at St. Peters University Hospital or Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick.
