Rahway Food For Friends Thanks Contributors to May Food Drive
Rahway Food For Friends would like to extend a warm thank you to Rahway Post Office and Rahway residents who donated 4,080 pounds of food during the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive held on May 11, 2019. A special thanks to the Rahway High School JROTC for the transporting and sorting of food. Thank you to the volunteers of Rahway Food For Friends who unselfishly give their time daily to maintain the operations and success of this program.
The May food drive postal collection has tripled since 2017. This means we will be able to feed over 500 families in the summer months. The impact of this huge donation offsets the summer and fall deficits, where our numbers increase due to the school closings. Our funding and donations are extremely low during these months and we strive to feed every child in need that would otherwise receive a meal at school. Your contribution this year helps us to impact hunger on a larger scale! We will be able to provide more than enough food to our needy seniors, families and children during the summer months and provide extra brown bags for children in need of an extra meal due to summer school closings.
