Police Chief Ted Conley retires

Scotch Plains Police Chief Ted Conley officially retired from the department on February 1, 2023 after completing 25 years of service with the Scotch Plains Police Department.

Cheif Conly lived or worked in Scotch Plains for ther majority of his life and is most thankful to the wonderful, outstanding people of Scotch Plains, stating “This is such a great town to live and grow up in, but the main thing that makes this town so welcoming is the people who live and work here. They bring you in like you are part of their family, and it is such a nice feeling.”

He is proud that the Department will be an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency for the third time. This promotes the standards of the department to the highest level in the state. It provides another level of checks and balances where the New Jersey State Chiefs Association inspects and reviews the policies of the department and makes sure that all of the officers of the agency are following each policy, as they are written.

Chief Conley thanked all of the officers of the Scotch Plains Police Department for making his career such a pleasurable one, stating “It has truly been an honor and a privilege working alongside some of the finest law enforcement officers around!”
