Church of the Assumption
Come to welcome Fr. Paul J Prevosto as the 11th Pastor of the Church of the Assumption on September 24, 2022, at the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Bishop Elias Lorenzo, OSB will preside.
Fr. Prevosto was ordained to service in the Church of Newark on May 25, 1996. He was assigned as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes Church upon ordination in Mountainside and then to St. Anthony’s Church in Belleville in 2002. In 2004 he joined the faculty at Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, teaching mathematics, theology, and Latin. In 2009, Archbishop Myers appointed him as pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack where he spent 13 years shepherding a diverse community of 3,000 families. On July 1, 2022, Father moved to his newest pastorate, Church of the Assumption, following the retirement of the pastor emeritus, Fr. James Spera. After the repercussions of COVID-19, Fr. Paul hopes to call back the many who have been scattered by the pandemic and are still too apprehensive to gather in church.
