Crane’s Ford Chapter Member Awarded NSDAR National Nursing Scholarship
The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution has announced that Cassady Leonard of Oakland,New Jersey has been awarded the Madeline Pickett Cogswell Nursing Scholarship. This national award, based on merit, is given each year to a student who has been accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, meets the criteria of honors and scholastic achievement, and demonstrates participation in community and school activities. Additionally, an essay must be included which states their career objectives. Applicants for this scholarship must be descendants of DAR members. Cassady is the granddaughter of Mary Leonard, the current Regent of the Crane’s Ford Chapter, and she is also a member of the Chapter.
The NSDAR awards multiple scholarships each year to students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, medical and education.
The NSDAR is a volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, historic preservation and education.Membership is open to any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence
