Drop by the Conti Room with a knitting or crochet project.  Ask us about our yarn-bombing project planned for the library’s front railings and how you can knit or crochet a swatch!

NP Chess Club (Kids, Teens & Adults)
April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 at 4:30 – 6:30 pm
Learn to play chess from the NP Chess Club! Instruction Lectures & Strategy from 4:30-5:30 followed by play from 5:30-6:30. Register at least 1 day in advance at npchessclub.org

Movie Matinee: “The Holdovers” (Adults)

This R-rated comedy drama follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. †

A History of Food and Culture  (Adults)

Poetry Slam! (Kids grades 3 – 8)

Kick off National Poetry Month with us!  Recite a favorite poem (or one from our collection) using a microphone,  create “book spine” poetry (which will be displayed in the library) and decorate a pocket to put a poem in.   RSVP to:  NPMLChildrens@gmail.com

Creative Writing Group (Adults)
April 4, 11, 18, 25 at 10:30 – 11:30 am
Connect with your creative peers in the community with Creative Writing, a one hour opportunity to hone your writing skills. Each week, an optional writing prompt is provided, or you may write about anything you’d like. This is a fun, nonjudgmental way of expressing yourself, not a class.

Roma Words, Roma Worlds Book Group (Adults)
April 4 at 7:00 pm
Louise Doughty’s historical novel Fires in the Dark follows the members of two Romani families of Bohemia and Moravia through the Great Depression, the Holocaust, and the Prague Uprising of 1945.  Special guest poet Clarissa Simmens, whose Romani family emigrated from Moldova in 1935, will join the discussion via zoom.  The Roma Words, Roma Worlds Book Group is co-sponsored by the Roma Peoples Project at Columbia University.

Board Games at the Brewery (Adults)
April 4 at 7:30 -9:30 pm
Buy yourself a beer or soda and play a board game in the back room at Untied Brewing! Library volunteers Mark and Elizabeth will introduce you to board games that go beyond the usual suspects you grew up playing.  We’ll play easy, quick to learn games like Otrio, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Sushi Go, Mysterium, and King of Tokyo.
