Submitted by Linda Kale

New Providence Lions Club recently held their annual Golf Tournament at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, New Jersey. Over 70 golfers participated this year, raising over $14,000.

The annual tournament is in memory of the Honorable Frank A. Pizzi Jr., distinguished member and former president of the New Providence Lions Club for many years. The Honorable Frank A. Pizzi Jr. was also a New Providence Municipal Court Judge from 1976 to 1995.

The Major Sponsors of the 2018 Tournament were: Lantern Hill Golf Committee, Ms. Dee Robertson, Allstate Insurance / Ana Galindo Agency, Tom and Gail Montrone, and Fox Hollow Golf Club.

The Hole-in-One Prizes included a 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV and $10,000 cash. More than 60 local businesses and residents sponsored holes and donated prizes for the tournament. Please visit our website nplions.org to view the list of sponsors and donors.

“This year’s Championship foursome, Stephanie Mauer, Robert Mauer, Bob Mauer and Chris Terreri, was a very special group because Stephanie and Robert are Frank Pizzi’s grandchildren, making this year’s event even more meaningful to the Lions’ Club,” remarked Bob Campbell, Co-Chairman of the Lion’s Golf Committee. “We’ve already begun work on next year’s tournament scheduled for June 3, 2019 at Fox Hollow Golf Club.”

“The New Providence Lions Club is a diverse group of more than 75 members, both men and women, young adults to retirees, all from different backgrounds and professions committed to serving our local community. Our mission is to give back to those with needs in the New Providence Community, “ commented John Everitt, President, New Providence Lions Club. “Thanks to our active membership and generous sponsors we are able to support the visually impaired and many other good causes.”
