*February 4 @ 3:30-4:30 PM – Cartooning with Comic Book Artist Doug Baron (Teens Grades 7-12)

Learn to draw your favorite cartoon characters and more with the help of comic book artist Doug Baron. He will demonstrate and teach drawing from its basic shape to complete forms, including tips on proportion, placement, and other techniques. This program will be online via zoom, including trivia at the end to win Doug’s finished drawings from the class! Email NPMLTeens@gmail.com to register.

February 6 @ 2 PM – 4 PM – Re-Entering the Workforce (Adults)

Join this class to find out how to use LinkedIn and other web sites to network and find job opportunities, learn how employers evaluate resumes and assess candidates, and how to use job descriptions to write your resume and cover letter.  Following the initial 30-minute zoom presentation by Mike Skara of the Adult School, you will sign up for a 15-minute virtual one-on-one session.

*February 8 @ 3:00 PM – Pick Up February Teen Take Out Boxes (Teens)

If you signed up and received confirmation for the February box, check your email to see when yours is ready to be picked up in our library foyer. Keep the goodies, just return the library book when you finish! 

February 8 @ 3:30 PM – Virtual Club Phoenix (Kids)

Club Phoenix is online! In this program kids will learn about science, engineering, and logical thinking. Watch a variety of cool science experiments and learn how you can do them at home! This program is run by teen volunteers, who are passionate about sharing their love of science and STEM with younger children. February 8 @ 7 PM – 9 PM – Baseball Discussion Group (All Ages)

Discuss teams, players and issues of the sport over Zoom with other baseball fans. Kids and parents are welcome to join this group of mostly seniors. To join the baseball group, email the library at npmlref@yahoo.com.

February 9 @ 7 PM – Virtual Read to a Dog (Kids)

Join us on Zoom and practice reading aloud to trained Seeing Eye dogs and puppies.  Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to receive the link.  For children in grades 2 and up.

The book group will meet over zoom.  Copies of the book (title to be announced) will be available to pick up at the circulation desk a month before the discussion. To join the book group, email the library at npmlref@yahoo.com.

February 18 @ 5:30-6:00PM – Teen Stress Relief Meditation & Breathing Session (Teens)

Dr. Somya Ramrakhyani, renowned pediatrician, meditation teacher and mental health advocate will offer a free 30-minute age appropriate meditation & breathing practice for teens. These methods have been proven to reduce stress, anxiety and aggression, and promote inner peace, confidence and focus. Email NPMLTeens@gmail.com to sign up and receive the zoom link and login.

February 22 @ 3:00PM – Signup for March Teen Take Out boxes (Teens)

Teen Take Out is a monthly box of fun for NP teens in grades 6-12 with a current NPML library card. Each month, we put together a box for you including fun treats like snacks, crafts, bookmarks, buttons, stickers and more. Plus, we select a YA Fiction book for you based on your answers to our questionnaire! Use our Google form to sign up for the March box on Feb 22. February 23 @ 3:30 PM – Virtual Timed LEGO Build (Kids)

Participate in our fun LEGO build challenge over Zoom! You will be given several building prompts and a time limit to complete each one! After each build we’ll share our creations! Email npmlchildrens@gmail.com to register. All ages.

February 23 @ 7 PM -8:15 PM – Mixed Media Virtual Workshop (Adults)

Local artist and Adult School instructor Lisa Brown will teach a workshop over zoom.  Create and embellish a scene based on one from a magazine using magazines, paint, markers, tissue paper, gift wrap, and colored paper.  The library can provide some of these materials – let us know when you register if you need them.  You will need to provide your own glue and scissors, plus lace, beads, ribbons or buttons if you would like to add those to your work.  Space is limited.
