Primary Centers Welcome New Principal

The Summit Board of Education welcomed Mr. Evan Kozak as the new Principal of Wilson and Jefferson Primary Center during the remote meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Mr. Kozak was the unanimous choice for the position by the District’s Interview Committee, consisting of central office administrators, principals, a special education supervisor, primary school teachers and main office staff.
The Interview Committee identified exceptional professional and personal qualities from Mr. Kozak, and believes he will be an excellent match for The Primary Centers. He exudes charisma, enthusiasm, and passion. Mr. Kozak prides himself as a team player and values building relationships with his students, staff, and school community. He has demonstrated a student-centered approach in his leadership roles, which include teaching and administrative positions in primary settings.
“In addition to being an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate primary educator, Mr. Kozak’s philosophy and approach are team-based and student-centered,” said Acting Superintendent Robert Gardella. “We are beyond excited to welcome this talented professional to our leadership team and school district community.”
In addition to teaching all primary grade levels including special education, Mr. Kozak served as an Assistant Principal and Interim Principal in two settings, most recently at Nishuane School in Montclair, which is a K-2 Primary School with approximately 500 students. Mr. Kozak was known in Montclair for his instructional leadership and was highly regarded by all stakeholders. The Interview Committee valued his diverse background with certifications as a school administrator, principal, supervisor, teacher of students with disabilities, and elementary school teacher.
