Four Mountainside girls caught the acting bug and gave a great performance in “The Wiz,” held at the historic Woodland Theatre, 60 Woodland Road, Maplewood, last month. The girls from Mountainside who acted in the play are: Abby and Mia Galm, Sarah Craven, and Alexa Torres, who was one of the girls who starred as Dorothy. The other Dorothy was Celeste Palermo from Springfield. There were 65 kids in all, from neighboring towns including New Providence, Westfield, Summit, and Union, and a real live dog who played Toto!
Rehearsals were held at Front and Center for Performing Arts, 95 Victory Road, Springfield, a facility that offers individuals of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to grow and develop artistically and personally in a nurturing environment.
