Mountainside Borough Participates in 2019 Foodstock Challenge
A challenge was issued by the Borough of Mountainside to the Borough of Kenilworth to see which Borough could collect the most food and the Battle of the Boroughs was on.
Foodstock is a grassroots 501c3 organization that has been formed to assist with the needs of less fortunate community members who are struggling to put food on their tables and to provide our generation with an opportunity to give back. Their successful effort began in 2010 with a small food drive event and to date they have collected 380,000 pounds of food. Their efforts have greatly benefited local food pantries which have come to depend on the great work of the Foodstock organization.
The Borough of Kenilworth won with a final weigh of 2,322.4lbs of food, this did not include the non-perishables delivered directly to St. Theresa’s Food Pantry. During the mutual congratulations of having collectively amassed over two tons of donations for the communal food pantries, a challenge for 2020 was issued and accepted.
