Millington Downtown Day set for October 15th

The Long Hill Chamber of Commerce will hold Millington Downtown Day on Sunday, October 15th from 11am-3pm in downtown Millington along Long Hill Road and Division Avenue. This will be the 4th time the Chamber-sponsored event has been held. The inaugural event was in 2012, but there was no event held in 2016 due to to the celebration of the Township’s 150th anniversary. “We are very glad to have the event back to show off our town,” said Mary Mayer, Chamber Vice-President and owner of Mary’s Your Name Here in Millington. This year’s Millington Downtown Day will have a Fall theme. “We plan to have great games and activities such as pumpkin carving, train rides, a bounce house, face painting, a giant slide, and many more fun activities”, said Dawn Kougias, owner of The Millington Station Cafe. All rides, games, and snacks such as ice cream and popcorn are free, all courtesy of the local business community. “We want to provide a community family-friendly event that allows the local businesses to connect directly with local residents. We plan to highlight the supportive, dedicated businesses we have right here in our own community, and remind everyone to shop local to keep our community strong”, said Chamber President Michelle Cavett of Soo Bahk Do Karate of Gillette.
Large business sponsors of the event include Millington Savings Bank, ShopRite, Investors Bank Jaeger Lumber, the Stirling Hotel, and New Jersey Hills Media Group. While admission to the event is also free, the Chamber requests that attendees bring a non-perishable boxed or canned item for the St. Vincent’s Food Pantry to gain entry. The Food Pantry reminds everyone to please be mindful of expiration dates and requests all items have an expiration date of November 1, 2017 or later.
