October Programs at the Millburn Public Library

Millburn Public Library October 2023

Register for Library programs by visiting millburnlibrary.org/events. Registrants will receive a Zoom link for online and hybrid programs. All in person programs will take place at the Library building at 200 Glen Ave. Programs are free and open to all residents. 

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS:

AN ASTRONOMY ADVENTURE WITH PAUL CIRILLO 

Thursday Oct 5, 7-8pm, In Person, Auditorium 

Learn about everything that makes up our neighborhood in space – our Solar System. See breathtaking pictures of all the planets, the moons of Jupiter and Saturn and even Pluto! Walk away with a real feel for our place in the universe.

GHOST HUNTING NJ & NYC WITH THE NJ GHOST HUNTERS SOCIETY 

Wednesday Oct 11, 7-8pm In Person, Auditorium 

L’Aura Hladik Hoffman has updates on some of the favorite sites contained in “Ghost Hunting New Jersey” (2008) and “Ghosthunting New York City” (2010). Hear what experiences have been had at these famously haunted locales since the books’ publications. 

AUTHOR VISIT: ALEXANDRA RIMER 

Monday, October 16, 7pm, Auditorium 

Alexandra Rimer, Assistant Editor at the Thomas Edison Papers at Rutgers University, will speak about her new book, Seduced by the Light: The Mina Miller Edison Story, a biography of Thomas Edison’s wife. Copies will be available for purchase and signing.

MUSIC & MOVEMENT WITH MISS BEE 

Friday, October 6, 11-11:30am, Auditorium For ages 2-5 

Little ones will experience the magic of music and movement through traditional and original songs, puppets, parachutes, bubbles, rhythm sticks, egg shakers and other fun instruments and props. Registration required.

JUGGLING WORKSHOP 

Thursday, October 19, 4-4:45pm, Auditorium For ages 6-12 

Children are introduced to the world of juggling in this hands-on workshop with Joe Fischer! The basic techniques are explained and demonstrated in a clear step-by-step format. WOW, in just under an hour children are on their way to developing a brand new skill. Registration required. 

CRAFTERNOON 

Wednesday October 25, 4-5pm, Auditorium For ages 4-12

What does crafts + afternoon equal? Why, crafternoon of course! Kids are invited to make a fun seasonal craft. Drop in.

PEARL OBSERVATORY INFLATABLE PLANETARIUM

Saturday, October 28, 3-4:30pm, Auditorium For ages 3 and up

Sign up in advance for a half-hour time slot to experience the night sky and learn about the solar system inside an inflatable planetarium! All family members going inside the inflatable planetarium must be signed up for the program. Registration required.

TEEN SKINCARE WORKSHOP 

Friday, October 6, 3:30-5pm, Room B 

Learn about how to treat your skin with respect and make a natural skincare product to take home.

TEEN LOCK IN FRIDAY: White Shirt Party

You provide the plain white shirt, we provide the creative tools!

TEEN GAMING

The Library of Things collection is available to Millburn Library cardholders over age 14 in good standing. You may reserve items up to 90 days in advance, and have 6 upcoming reservations at once. Check out hotspots, telescope, microscope, TonieBoxes, ukuleles, games like bocce ball and pickleball, and more.
