April Programs at the Millburn Public Library

Millburn Public Library April 2024

Register for Library programs by visiting millburnlibrary.org/events. Registrants will receive a Zoom link for online and hybrid programs. All in person programs will take place at the library building at 200 Glen Ave. Programs are free and open to all residents. 

PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS:

IN PERSON: HIGH TEA WITH LIBERTY HALL MUSEUM

Thu April 4, 7-8pm, Auditorium

In the grand tradition of Mary Alice’s high teas at her historic home at Liberty Hall Museum, enjoy a delectable lecture that covers 4,000 years of tea history. Discover how tea was accidentally discovered in early China. Explore how the influence of two British Queens made tea a popular drink around the world. Learn the stories of the famous high teas served at Liberty Hall, and get an up-close and personal look at some of the most incredible tea service pieces in the museum’s china collection.

IN PERSON: LOCAL POETS SHOWCASE

Sat April 6, 2-3:30pm, Auditorium

The Millburn Library celebrates National Poetry Month with our third annual showcase of local poets. The reading will be followed by a question and answer period. Books will be available for purchase and signing. This year we are delighted to welcome the following poets to the library: Mary Brancaccio, David Stanford Burr, Anu Mahadev, Soraya Shalforoosh.

IN PERSON: AFTER HOURS AT THE LIBRARY: PUZZLE TOURNAMENT

Fri April 19, 6-8pm, Auditorium

Teams of 2-4 people compete to finish the same 500 piece puzzle in the least amount of time. Families and teens are welcome but each team must include at least 1 adult. Only one person needs to make the reservation for your team. Each group will be able to take home their puzzle and the fastest puzzle solving team will receive a special prize. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Space is limited. Registration required.

PROGRAMS FOR KIDS:

IN PERSON: MUSIC & MOVEMENT WITH MISS BEE

Friday April 5, 11-11:30am, Auditorium, Ages up to 5 with a caregiver

Little ones will experience the magic of music and movement through traditional and original songs, puppets, parachutes, bubbles, rhythm sticks, egg shakers and other fun instruments and props. Registration required. 

IN PERSON: ECLIPSE VIEWING (WEATHER PERMITTING)

Mon April 8, 3-4:30pm, Library Field

Come see the solar eclipse! Each registered attendee will be given a free pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses for the event— don’t look up without them! Registration required.

IN PERSON: CRAFTERNOON

Wednesday April 17, 4-5pm, In Person, Auditorium For ages 4-12

What does crafts + afternoon equal? Why, crafternoon of course! Kids are invited to make a fun seasonal craft. Drop in.

IN PERSON: TAKE A “PAWSE” WITH A THERAPY DOG

Tue April 16, 3:30-4:30pm, Teen Space

Come visit with a dog that will help melt your stress away.

IN PERSON: PRACTICE SAT

Sat April 20, 10am-1pm, Auditorium

Get a better sense of what to expect on the official SAT Exam day. This is a full-length digital practice test and will take approx. 2.75 hours to complete. Registration required.

IN PERSON: TEEN MOVIE: FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDIES

Monday April 23, 3:30-5:30pm, Auditorium

Rated PG-13 (2023), 1h49m. There will be snacks!
