Free Tax Assistance for Older Adults
March 8, 15, 22, 29 (9 a.m. to noon)
Free tax counseling and preparation for middle- and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60+ on Thursdays through April 12. SAGE will host IRS-trained volunteer tax preparers from AARP. Area residents in Essex, Morris, Somerset, and Union Counties do not need to be a member of AARP or a retiree to use the service. Fun-to-be-Fit Exercise Class
March 6, 13, 20, 27 (10:15 to 11:15 a.m.) and

Caregiver Support Group for Spouses
March 5, 19 (2 to 3 p.m.)
A support group for caregivers will be led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker and InfoCare Manager Kathy Larkin. The groups will cover topics such as coping with caregiver emotions and managing stress, navigating care options, and defining our roles as caregivers. Elder Abuse Prevention Presentation
March 7, 2018 (1 to 2 pm.)
Elder abuse is when a caretaker or loved one causes harm to an older person. Join us for this invaluable presentation which highlights warning signs, what to do if you suspect you or someone you know is being abused, and how to prevent the abuse from happening. Car Fit Information Program
March 14 (1:30 to 2:30 p.m.)
The program will be led by Traffic Safety Specialist, Ron Esposito of AAA (American Automobile Association) and is intended to help older drivers make sure their cars are properly fitted for safety including driver visibility. Once participants complete this program they can sign up for a Car Fit checkup where a trained Car Fit Technician will complete a 12-point check list and make recommendations to make the driving experience as safe as possible. What to Know if You are Considering A Home Equity Loan or Reverse Mortgage
March 21 (1:30 to 2:30 p.m.)
This program is for homeowners age 62+ who are considering a Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (reverse mortgage) as part of their retirement financial strategy. The program will be conducted by Janice Szallai of Liberty Home Equity Solutions and will cover: how to eliminate monthly mortgage payments, improve monthly cash flow, stretch retirement savings and purchasing your next home. A Day to Remember: A Conference for Those Living with Memory Loss
March 24 (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
Presented by the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute, the program is for patients, caregivers and community members to learn about memory loss, research and helpful resources. Speakers include: Memory and Cognitive Neurologist, Dr. Anjali Patel, Geriatric Psychiatrist, Dr. Matthew Barnas and Pulmonologist, Dr. Federico Cerrone. SAGE Eldercare Director of Nursing and Home Care, Alice Sloop will lead an info session from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to discuss what can be done at home to help those caring for someone with dementia.
