Girl Scouts Support ACBC Program

On Saturday, January 9 Long Hill Girl Scout 5th grade Junior Troop 6604 completed their Journey: It’s Your World – Change It. The girls identified a program right in their own backyard and made a plan that they put into action to help make a difference.

The troop held a can drive in sections of Long Hill to help Stirling Fire Department raise money for ACBC, Aluminum Cans For Burned Children, a program held at St. Barnabas Hospital to help treat pediatric burn patients and support their families. The girls collected aluminum cans and brought them to the Long Hill Department of Public Works and emptied them into the ACBC trailer. Their contributions helped the Stirling Fire Department raise approximately $200 for ACBC.

On this journey, the girls teamed up to become agents of change and make the world a better place. The troop had multiple meetings where the girls discovered a problem, found a solution and implemented a plan. The objective of this journey was to bring awareness of this beneficial program. The troop encourages the community to continue bringing their aluminum cans to the ACBC trailer at the Long Hill Department of Public Works throughout the year.
