Linden Public School district’s opening ceremony

Linden Public Schools teachers, staff and students joined Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Robertozzi in a flash mob during the District’s opening ceremony as a District of Distinction, during a district-wide professional development day held on September 4th.
The morning began with the Superintendent welcoming the entire district, (secretaries, custodians, paras, aides, and teachers) who gathered for the first time in the history of Linden Public Schools all at the same time, at the  same place to hear the news, share the vision for the district and to launch the 5-year strategic plan which includes a new logo created by students.  Next was a message from motivational speaker Mark Anthony Garrett. He spoke about how a teacher believed in him and made him what he is today.  Then, without warning, the flash mob began to the song “Eye of the Tiger” a choreographed and well-rehearsed dance. The tiger is the districts mascot. A video of the event can be viewed on YouTube under Linden Public Schools.
The proud peers laughed and clapped as their fellow staff members, administrators and the award winning Linden High Dance Company students showed off their moves. This event was meant to have a lot of energy and bring everyone together as a “District of Distinction.” In the afternoon, the entire district walked over to Tiger Stadium to share lunch, team building activities including fitness for the mind and body, collaboration and the experience of inspiration and unification. As the entire Linden Public School district “Rises Up to the Challenge” this new school year, they are energized and committed to ensure the personal success of every student.
