KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CELEBRATES 75 YEARS

On Saturday June 17, 2017 the Linden Council 2859 Knights of Columbus celebrated their 75th anniversary with a Mass at St. Elizabeth’s Church, and a luncheon that followed.
Linden Council 2859 received its charter on June 21, 1942. St. Elizabeth’s Church was its sponsor. Pat Hennessy, who received the Distinguished Service Cross for valor in World War 1, was its first Grand Knight. In the past 75 years Linden Council has been very active in the city of Linden. Just to name a few of the activities the Council has been involved in over the past 75 years: Sponsoring Little League Baseball and Basketball, honoring the firemen and policemen of the year, and raising more than half a million dollars for the handicapped. The Council has been involved in myriad other activities over the last 75 years: they participated in the Right to Life march in Washington, DC; they hosted annual picnics, Easter egg hunts, Ethic nights, Benefit Dinners, and a bowling league on Friday evenings; and they held May Crowning, children’s Christmas parties, Widows and Nuns Dinners, and Mass for their deceased members.
