Superintendent Jeremy Davies plans to move school district forward
Kenilworth Public Schools
Jeremy Davies has welcomed Kenilworth Public Schools students on the first day of school for the past several years. This September will mark the first time he does so as the district’s superintendent.
Davies, the principal at David Brearley Middle-High School for four years, was selected as superintendent in June. He succeeds Kyle Arlington, who went on to lead another district.
Davies said he is excited to continue building community connections and academic momentum across the district.
“I am eager to engage with Harding students, parents, and staff. I look forward to working with the entire Kenilworth community to honor and celebrate all the things that make this town great while advancing the academic reputation of our schools,” he said.
As principal, Davies helped develop STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Esports initiatives, a digital sound engineering lab and dance program. His focus on the arts and STEM helped create a dynamic learning environment and increased student engagement and achievement. Davies also supported college and career readiness by increasing guidance counseling resources and working with students to identify their post-secondary paths.
Kenilworth Board of Education president Dr. Michelle Panichi described Davies as a respected member of the school community and a positive presence for students and their families.
“We expect that Mr. Davies will continue to move our district forward, and with his kindness and support, we welcome him as he begins his work,” said Panichi. “We look forward to gathering together for some upcoming welcome and community engagement events.”
Before his time at Kenilworth, Davies served as an administrator in supervisory, assistant principal and principal roles in the Mountain Lakes, Westfield, and Hanover Park school districts. He began his career in education as an AmeriCorps volunteer teacher in an underprivileged Florida community.
Davies earned a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Saint Elizabeth. His bachelor’s degree is from Villanova University. Davies’s father, a West Orange police officer, and grandfather, a school custodian, inspired him to pursue a career that impacts a community. Davies lives in Morris County with his wife and 7-year-old daughter.
The district aims to fill the Brearley principal position vacated by Davies by the start of the 2024-25 academic year.
