PJ Story Time:

Children are welcome to attend this story time program 

dressed in their pajamas and bring along a favorite stuffed animal

for ages 3 & up.

Registration is required for each individual craft one week prior to each craft.

August Special Events

Registration is required for all special events. Kenilworth residents may register one week prior to each event. Out of town residents may register two days prior to each event, space permitting.

Safe Solar Viewing at the Kenilworth Public Library

Monday, August 1 at 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Rain date: Tuesday, August 8 (12:00pm – 1:00pm)

Ages: 4 – adult

Join us for this interactive event as we learn about the sun. 

Participants will have an opportunity to safely view the sun through solar telescopes in the library’s parking lot. This program will be presented by The Morris Museum Astronomical Society.

Interactive musical program will be presented by Tiffany Taylor for ages: 0-  4

Eyes of The Wild Animal Program at The Kenilworth Public Library

Thursday, August 3 at 7:00pm – 8:00pm.

Ages: 4 – adult

Participants will be educated and entertained as they learn about and view up close exotic animals. This program is recommended for ages 4 – adult. This program has been funded by donations made in memory of Elvira Kowalczuk

Musical Celebration with Charlie O at The Kenilworth Public Library

Monday, August 7 at 11:00am – 12:00pm

All ages are welcome to join us for this interactive event celebrating summer reading and an opportunity to win one of several raffle prizes. This event will be presented by DJ Charlie Oliva.

Good Tyme String Band:

10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, August  9.

All ages are welcome to attend and enjoy foot tapping knee slapping music.

Ferragosto! Celebrating Summer Italian Style

Thursday, August 10 at 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Ages: 4 & up

Join us for an evening featuring traditional Italian music, dance and costuming. Enjoy live music including an interactive tarantella dance lesson. This evening will be presented by D’Italia Programs. This program was made possible by funds from the Union County Office of Cultural Affairs, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Yoga Story Time:

10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, August 16

Join us for stories and yoga poses for the youngest listeners and their caregiver. This program will be presented by Sandy Szeluga for ages: 2 –  5. This program has been funded by The Friends of The Kenilworth Public Library.

Magic Show at The Kenilworth Public Library

Thursday, August 17 at 7:00pm – 8:00pm

Ages 4 – Adult

Join us for an amazing interactive show featuring the magic of Anthony Salazar and Joe Holiday. This program has been funded by a Recyling grant given to the Borough of Kenilworth.

Police K-9 Demonstration at The Kenilworth Public Library

Friday, August 18 at 11:00am – 11:30am

Ages: 8 – Adult

Learn all about the life and training of the Union County K-9 unit. Meet a K-9 police officer and view a K-9 police dog up close.

Meet The Seeing Eye Puppies at The Kenilworth Public Library

Tuesday, August 22 at 6:30pm – 7:00pm

Ages: 4 – Adult

Listen to a story and meet the families that are training puppies to be given back to The Seeing Eye in Morristown. The families will talk about the responsibilities of raising a Seeing Eye puppy and demonstrate basic obedience commands.

At the conclusion of this program, children will be invited to meet and greet the puppies.

“Paper Pals.”

Join us on Tuesdays, August 1 & 15 at 2:00pm – 4:00pm and Monday, August 22 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm

 You don’t need any paper crafting experience to join the fun. This is a FREE program for adults.

“Yarnies”

Join us on Thursdays, August 3, 10, 17 & 24 at 2:00pm – 4:00pm and Thursday, August 31 at 6:00pm – 7:30pm.

“Spin – A – Yarn”

Join us on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:00pm – 7:45pm.

Bring your spinning wheel or drop spindle and create beautiful yarns!

If you don’t have a wheel, you are still welcome to join us to learn about spinning.
