Kenilworth Girl Scouts receive Gold Award

On June 1, 2014, four Kenilworth Girl Scouts received their Gold Award. This is the highest award in
Girl Scouting. Senior Christine Grispart, Troop 40793; and three Sophomores from Troop 40407: Melissa Ryan, Alicia Gaines, Emma Lucadema.

Christine Grispart is a Senior at David Brearley High School. Christine’s project benefited Locks of Love, a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Melissa Ryan is a Sophomore at David Brearley High School. Melissa cleaned up DiMario Park in Kenilworth, by improving the softball field there, and cleaning out the DiMario park garage and also fixing up the bathroom.

Alicia Gaines is a Sophomore at David Brearley High School. Alicia made a book of photographs, documenting places in Kenilworth. She donated a copy to the Kenilworth Public library.

Emma Lucadema is a Sophomore at Union County Magnet High School. Emma’s project was titled United in Service to God for the 1st United Methodist Church of Scotch Plains. They have both an English and Chinese Sunday service. She made a puppet stage, bookmarks for the hymnals and a banner in both English and Chinese.
