Kenilworth Borough Wins Foodstock Challenge 2019

Kenilworth Wins the Battle of the Boroughs

The boroughs of Kenilworth and Mountainside recently faced off in the Foodstock Challenge 2019. The challenge, referred to as the Battle of the Boroughs, was to see which community could collect the most food donations.

Foodstock is a grassroots 501c3 organization that has been formed to assist with the needs of less fortunate community members who are struggling to put food on their tables and to provide our generation with an opportunity to give back. Their successful effort began in 2010 with a small food drive event and to date they have collected 380,000 pounds of food.  Their efforts have greatly benefited local food pantries which have come to depend on the great work of the Foodstock organization.

The Borough of Kenilworth won with a final weigh of 2,322.4lbs vs Mountainside’s 1,581 lbs. of food; this did not include the non-perishables delivered directly to St. Theresa’s Food Pantry. During the mutual congratulations of having collectively amassed over two tons of donations for the communal food pantries, a challenge for 2020 was issued and accepted.
