Join Us for Union’s Memorial Day Parade!

Township of Union Veterans’ Alliance Memorial Day Parade, Monday May 27th

The Township of Union Veteran’s Alliance Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 27th, 2019, on Vauxhall Rd. and travel along Stuyvesant Ave as a tribute those who have died in service of the United States of America. We invite our residents to come out and pay tribute.

“The Memorial Day Parade is a day that the Township of Union and its residents come together to remember the brave heroes who risked their lives for our country. We often forget the significance of this great holiday and each year with our parade, we remind our township of the lives, stories, and scarifies that were made by these great fallen soldiers,” said Mayor Michele Delisfort.

This year’s Grand Marshalls are the different service branches of our military. One Union representative of each branch was chosen, Firefighter Dan Danza representing the United States Army, LTC. Debbie Skeete-Bernard representing the United States Air Force, Policeman Jason Sullivan representing United States Navy, Firefighter Lt. Eric Stroming representing the United States Coast Guard and Firefighter Orlando Guzman representing the United States Marines. Marching alongside the Grand Marshalls will be Brigadier General Edward Chrystal, currently serving as the Land Component Commander for the New Jersey Army National Guard. The Brigadier General Edward will be escorting Gold Star Mother Maria Cacoilo.

During the parade, enjoy the floats, Clydesdales horses, military units and vehicles, motorcycles, Uptown String Band, Civil War reenactors and, many civic and youth organizations as they march with our military. Two new organizations marching with us this year are award winning Legion of Boom Marching Band and Weequahic High School Marching Band. Also marching in our parade this year is Brigadier General Edward Chrystal currently serving as the Land Component Commander for the New Jersey Army National Guard.

We encourage our residents to set up their lawn chairs near the Pearl Harbor Square to see the Grandstand and get the best seat in the house. The closing ceremony at Veteran’s Honor Roll and Memorial Park, will also present the opportunity for spectators to witness a Revolutionary War Battle reenactment at 11:30am as well as live cannon fire.

In addition, any veterans having served in World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War are invited to ride in our designated “Veteran’s Float.” Reserve your spot by contacting Karen Caulfield at 908-851-5472.
