John Cronin Receives Westfield Area YMCA Golden Volunteer Award

At its annual meeting held on June 14, 2018 the Westfield Area YMCA awarded its highest honor — the Golden Volunteer Award – to Westfield resident John Cronin for his dedicated service, volunteerism and leadership.

The Golden Volunteer Award was initiated in 1973 at the 50th anniversary of the Westfield Area Y to honor individuals for outstanding service to the community and the Y. It is presented annually to a board member or volunteer who has demonstrated exceptional dedication, involvement, and service to the Westfield Area Y and the four core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring.

John is a long-time Y member and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2012. John is the current Chair of the Westfield Area Y Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the Presidents Council. He has participated on numerous committees, served as chair of the Physical Programs Committee and especially enjoys his involvement on the Annual Golf Outing Committee.

He also remains involved in the Westfield community supporting many local organizations, especially the Westfield Flag football program where he serves as league commissioner.

John is an outstanding ambassador in promoting the Y mission to the community and is extremely deserving of this award.
