Jefferson Robotics Team Receives 2nd Place at State Championship
A team of six Jefferson School fifth graders received 2nd Place in the Strategy and Innovation category at the recent state championship of the First Lego League robotics competition.
Team Legorio, made up of Luke Jenner, Neev Nedungadi, Mahie Panjwani, Aaron Rudnick, Evan Tukaczynski and Wilson Wright, competed against 80 teams in the North New Jersey region, with the Strategy and Innovation Award based on the team’s unique attachments to achieve various missions, including a spring-loaded attachment and a forklift feature.
“The judges were also very impressed with the flowchart the team created as part of their strategy to accomplish as many missions as efficiently as possible using the same motions,” says Denise Jenner, one of the parent volunteer organizers of Team Legorio.
The First Lego League is a robotics competition that has students, ages 9-14, strategizing, designing, building, programming and testing an autonomous robot while applying real-world math and science concepts.
