Happy Birthday Irene Truszkowska

The Mountainside community recently came together to celebrate Irene Truszkowska – 103 years young!
Irene was born in Newark and resided in the Ironbound Section until moving to Mountainside in 1964.
Irene earned 3 College degrees and 2 Post Graduate degrees.
Her over 50-year career included:
- Night Supervisor (Labor & Delivery) Presbyterian Hospital 1931-1941
- In Charge Nurse (Nursery) Presbyterian Hospital 1941-1943
- Staff Nurse (public Health) Orange Visiting Nurse 1944-1946
- Nursing Art Instructor Newark City Hospital 1946-1991
- East Side High School, Newark Board of Ed. Health Teacher 1961-1972
- East Side High School, Guidance Counselor 1972-1987
- Retired 1987 from East Side High School
Irene’s hobbies include reading, singing, playing the violin, sewing, spending weekends at the jersey shore with her sister Sabina, going to movies, volunteering for church events, groups and organizations she belonged too.
The groups and organizations she belonged to over the years include: Polish Women Alliance of America, Holy Rosary Society or St. Casimir’s Church, Newark NJ, and she is a life-long Parishioner of St. Casimir’s Church, Newark.
Irene is an amazing person, her sister, Sabina Truszkowski who passed away on October 2017, and her have touched my heart from the day I have moved into my home here in Mountainside. I am so happy to be able to help honor her.
