HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF SCOTCH PLAINS AND FANWOOD

The public is invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Historical Society of Scotch Plains, to be held on February 28th, 8 p.m., at the Scotch Hills Country Club on Plainfield Ave. and Jerusalem Road in Scotch Plains.
Beverly A. Friend, of Cherokee heritage, will present a variety of authentic artifacts, crafts and clothing to explain Lenape daily life, beliefs and history. She will also explain the special relationships between the people, the animals of the forest preceding contact with Europeans. The Lenape occupied New Jersey, southeastern New York, eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware at the time of European exploration and colonization.
The meeting is free and open to everyone. It is made possible by the funding of the NJ Council for the Humanities’ Horizons Speaker Bureau.
