Greta’s Run 5k for Imagine is Going Virtual This Year

Greta’s Run for Imagine Goes Virtual

Submitted by Ben Nanna

At Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, we support people during the toughest times in their lives. And right now, we’re all facing a tough time together. Over 2,000 children and adults depend on us, and hundreds more look forward to Greta’s Run every spring. That’s why it comes down to this: the need for grief support and community doesn’t stop, so neither can we. Greta’s Run for Imagine is going virtual.

Recently we announced that Imagine would be the new home and beneficiary of Greta’s Run, a 5k founded in memory of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman who died from injuries sustained when a tree branch fell on her and her classmates during lunch.

“Together, we will raise the money we need to continue providing free, life-saving grief support, education, and training,” said Imagine’s founder, Mary Robinson, who was recently named a CNN Hero.

Help us make sure no child grieves alone. Set up a Greta’s Run for Imagine page. Donate and encourage your friends to give. Then join the virtual event in one or more of the following ways:

Run, Walk Roll: participate individually anytime, anywhere, in your Greta’s Run shirt the week leading up to Sunday, May 17.

Share Your Story: post about the person/people you’re participating in memory of to social media, using #GretasRun.

Color a Dragonfly: then place it in your window and post a photo on social media to show your support.

Details about prizes for top fundraisers and social media posts, and shirt pick up/ drop-off will be announced shortly, so follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates. To register, sponsor, donate and learn more, visit: imaginenj.org/gretasrun.

At Imagine, we know your need for grief support doesn’t go away or wait for times like this to pass. It’s why everyone here at Imagine is committed to continue providing our free grief support services during this uncertain time. Contact us if you are in need at info@imaginenj.org or 908-264-3100.

About Imagine

Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, is a grief support center for children, young adults and families dealing with the death or life-altering illness of a parent, sibling or child. We provide free peer grief support year-round for as long as is needed. We are currently serving over 285 participants from 55 towns in our center every two weeks. In addition to these services, we provide training through our education and outreach programs across the state to a variety of organizations including schools, houses of worship and corporations. We also provide onsite support after any trauma or loss. Our goal is to create communities where grief and loss are transformed into resilience, empathy and compassion; and create communities where no child grieves alone.

Imagine is completely privately funded through the generous contributions of our donors, and our work is only made possible through their support.
