May 1, 8, 15, and 22 at 10:30 am – Knitting Club

Join our Knitting Club. Open to all levels, whether you’re a beginner or you want to share your vast knowledge of knitting, or just spend an hour being creative and socializing. No Registration required. Yarn and needles provided to newcomers

May 2, 9 ,16, 23 and 30 at 10 am and 11 am – Storytime in the Library Join Miss Maryanne for stories, bubbles and more. Registration Required. The May 2  Storytime features guest reader Lee Ann Pavlak

May 3 and 24 LEGO Club at 3 pm Be inspired by this week’s theme or build whatever comes to mind. Then share your creation with others. Registration required by phone or in person. Limit 12 children ages 4 -12.

May 3 at  7:30 pm – Library Board Meeting – A meeting of the Garwood Library Board of Trustees will take place in the Library. This meeting is open to the public.

May 4 and 18 at 3 pm Kid’s Chess – Informal chess games for children of all ages. Note this is non-instructional supervised play. No registration required. Limit 12.

May 9 at 3pm Virtual Kids Craft – Pick up supplies for a  craft, then watch the craft tutorial on the Library’s Facebook page at 3 pm. The video will be available for viewing thereafter. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants. Sign up on the Library’s website calendar or by phone.

May 10 from 10 am to noon – Ask Kiosk – Aging Services Kiosk  – Union County Division of Aging Staff will be on hand to assist seniors (age 60+) or their caregivers with information on services, such as meal delivery, respite care, adult day care and support services for caregivers.


May 15 to May 31 
Summer Reading Bookmark Contest –  It’s time for the annual bookmark contest. We want you (and a buddy if you’ like) to design an awesome bookmark incorporating this year’s theme “All Together Now”. It combines reading, community and friendship! One bookmark from each grade will be printed and distributed by the library for everyone to enjoy. Submissions must be returned to the library by May 31. See our website for more details.

May 16 at 3 pm Virtual Adult Craft – Pick up your craft supplies from the Library and then watch the Facebook tutorial at 3 pm. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 10 participants. Sign up on the Library website’s events calendar or by phone..

May 22 at  1pm  Book Discussion Group Join us in the library for a lively discussion of this month’s book “The School for Good Mothers” by Jessamine Chan.
