Fun Summer Events Continue at the Kenilworth Public Library

Summer has a lot going on for young readers who visit the Kenilworth Public Library now thru August 3, 2018.
“Libraries Rock!” was announced as the theme for the Kenilworth Public Library’s 2018 summer reading program. Registration for the library’s summer reading clubs for children and teens between the ages of 2 and 18 began in June, and the summer fun continues.
In addition to being able to earn free paperback books based on the amount of time spent reading, children who are members of the various reading clubs may participate in the following activities: Monday PJ Storytime (6:30-7 p.m.) for ages 3 and up, Tuesday Lap Sit (10:30-10:50 a.m.) for newborns through age 2, Wednesday Toddler Time (10:30-10:50 a.m.) for 2 year olds. Children must register for the summer reading club in person. Children must be registered in the summer reading club in order to register for all summer reading club events.
Registration is also required for the following weekly programs:
Bingo For Young Children will be held on Thursdays, July 5 and August 2 (11:00-11: 30 a.m.) for ages 3 & up.
Bingo For Children Who Can Read will be held on Thursday, July 19 (11:00 – 11:30 a.m.).
Craft workshops will be held on Fridays (11 a.m. to noon) for ages 4 and up on July 6, 13, 20 & 27 and August 3.
Lego At The Library will be held on Thursdays July 12 and July 26 this summer at 11:00 -11:30 a.m. for children ages 4-12 years old. Children ages 4-9 years old must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Each week children will have an opportunity to build their own creative project based on a weekly theme. Registration is required. Lego at the Library is made possible through a grant from the Walmart Local Giving program.

Thursday night special events will be held each week at 7:00 – 7:45 p.m. beginning on June 28 – August 2 for children ages 4 – 12 years old. Fantastic Forces, an interactive science based program will be presented by Lisa Lou. This program will be presented by a recycling grant given to The Borough of Kenilworth. The library will give everyone the chance to celebrate their accomplishments during the Ninth Annual LibraryFest , an open house event scheduled for Thursday, August 11, between the hours of 5:30 and 7 p.m. Participants will thrill to the amazing interactive science experiments presented by Wondergy. Children will also receive a special balloon sculpture made just for them by Mark Dolson, marvel at the sleight of hand of magician Francis Menotti, visit with beautiful Paso Fino horses in our parking lot (weather permitting), and receive a special gift from the library. Families attending LibraryFest should anticipate a forty-five minute time frame for participation in all of the evening’s events and all children in attendance must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. No registration will be required to attend LibraryFest. LibraryFest has been funded by The Friends Of The Kenilworth Public Library, and a Recycling Grant given to the Borough of Kenilworth.

(above) Field Station: Dinosaurs recently visited The Kenilworth Public Library. Children had an opportunity to learn about dinosaurs through stories, and music. Children viewed a dinosaur fossil, met with a baby dinosaur and T-Rex. Field Station: Dinosaurs is located in Leonia, NJ.
