Friends of Watchung Library Encourage Summer Reading

The Friends of the Watchung Library, responding to a book drive held by Cresthaven Academy in Plainfield, donated over 100 books for kindergarten through 5th grade students in June. Cresthaven hopes to give each student at least two books to encourage summer reading.

The donated books include fiction and nonfiction with subjects ranging from arts and crafts to sports, from creepy insects to outer space. Peggy Ellis, volunteer manager of the Friends book store, said “I hope there is something to fascinate every child! Summer reading is so important for children to maintain their levels of literacy. And, besides, reading is fun.”
