SAVE A LIFE: Learn How to Prevent Overdose with Naloxone
Clark, New Jersey: The United States is in the midst of an opioid overdose epidemic, and so is New Jersey. That’s why The Counseling Center at Clark in Union County is hosting a free training seminar on how to use NARCAN, the only FDA-approved medication that reverses opioid overdose.
Attendees who attend this free life-saving training on overdose will learn:
• The warning signs of an overdose
• How to handle the victim of an overdose
• How to administer Narcan Nasal Spray to reverse an overdose
This training is essential for anyone who might come to the aid of someone overdosing from using pain killers, heroin or other opioids. The training takes place on August 1st at The Counseling Center at Clark, 60 Walnut Ave, Suite 200 in Clark, NJ.
The Center for Disease Control reported that opioids killed 33,000 people in 2015, more than any other year. So far in 2017, Union County already has 158 overdoses. With heroin and prescription pain killer use still rising, it is imperative to know what to do in an overdose emergency.
The training is free, but the seating is limited and pre- registration is required. The training is open to both the community and addiction treatment professionals. All attendees who preregister for the event will receive a Free Narcan Emergency Overdose Kit.
