Franklin School Honors Our Veterans

Recently, Franklin Elementary School in Rahway came together to show some love and appreciation to our veterans. The project all began when members of the school’s Blue and Gold Club sent a letter to all of the teachers at the school and asked them to have their students write a letter to a veteran.
All of the grades from kindergarten to grade 6 wrote letters. It was great to see the school come together. Some of the letters will be brought to the Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park, NJ to be distributed on Veterans Day. The rest of the letters were placed in goody bags that the Blue and Gold Club members put together. The goody bags are filled with candy. They will be brought to the Rahway VFW and Atria Assisted Living Community in Cranford and were distributed on Veterans Day. The children hope that the letters and goody bags put a smile on the veteran’s faces.
Franklin School’s Blue and Gold Club is a school based club made up of students that volunteer their time throughout the year to help with different community service activities. The club is overseen by the school’s nurse, Mrs. Barbara Maher and Ms. Kym Adams. They do a great job and we’re proud of these young men and women. Keep up the great work kids!
