Summer Reading Program offers “Oceans of Possibilities”

Summer Reading Offers “Oceans of Possibilities”

Summer Reading is back at the Florham Park Public Library! This summer, kids will explore the theme Oceans of Possibilities through reading and sharing some of their favorite books, authors, and series. Young readers will win prizes and get other fun incentives just for enjoying a good book!

The Library will also offer many ocean themed events during the 8 week long summer reading program.Highlights include a visit from the Whalemobile in July, which features a life-size whale that participants can go inside to explore the creature’s anatomy! The Library is also pleased to offer a virtual experience with the Beluga whales at Mystic Aquarium, and can meet the penguins from Jekinson’s Aquarium in-person. The summer kick-off event takes place on Wednesday, June 29th with a spectacular show from the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ.

Following our kick off event, the Library will be open for Summer Reading registration. Reading incentive programs run for all 8 weeks and the Library offers something for every age group. Early Literacy readers complete fun, literacy activities to win a weekly prize. Elementary readers (K-5th) keep track of the number of minutes they read each week to earn a prize, and tween/teen readers (6th-12th) are invited to fill out a review bookmark for each book they read this summer and return them to the library for a book of their choice. Elementary and Teen readers will also be entered into a drawing for the chance to win one of three grand prizes at the end of the summer. One winner from each age group will be chosen.
