Four Westfield Boy Scouts Celebrate Becoing Eagle Scouts in Joint Ceremony.
Submitted by Troop 72
Four Westfield boys who joined the same Boy Scout troop together in 2012 celebrated their achievement of Eagle Scout rank in a joint ceremony.
Representative Tom Malinowski and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick were at the Presbyterian Church to congratulate Brendan Loder, James McCutcheon, and brothers Michael and Alexander McGrail.
They were joined by Westfield Chief of Police Christopher Battiloro and Westfield High School Interim Principal James DeSarno to celebrate the achievements of the four boys who joined Troop 72 together on the same day.
The Mayor of Westfield was represented by Councilwoman Linda Habgood.
More than one speaker pointed out that, of more than 2 million Boy Scouts in the USA, just 4% achieve the highest possible rank. They join well-known Eagle Scouts from Neil Armstrong to Steven Spielberg.
Brendan, James and Alexander graduated from Westfield High School this year. Brendan will attend Gettysburg College in the fall, James will join Washington University in St. Louis and Alexander will travel to Virginia to attend The College of William & Mary. Michael, currently a sophomore at Marist College, attained the rank of Eagle Scout two years ago but waited to celebrate his achievement with his brother.
