Former Charles H. Brewer School Plans Staff Reunion

Faculty and staff of the former Charles H. Brewer School on Westfield Avenue in Clark, New Jersey, are holding a reunion on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the Ill Gabbiano Restaurant in Cranford, New Jersey. Members of the committee include Walter E. Boright, language arts and history teacher; Elaine Rusnak Zemeckis, math teacher; Lillian Husth Liskovec, home economics teacher; and Pamelia Myers O’Reilly, math teacher.
Opened as a school in 1949, it was named for local farmer Charles H. Brewer of Madison Hill Road, Clark. He was a long-time school board member and district clerk. It closed its doors as a school nearly 35 years ago in June 1983. Thereafter it was sold by the Board of Education to the township for one dollar. The structure now serves as the Clark Municipal Building Complex. After its closing, staff and students merged with that of the Carl H. Kumpf School on Mildred Ter., forming one middle school.
The committee is looking for the assistance of local residents and former students to help locate past members of the Brewer School faculty and staff. Persons with information regarding the whereabouts of former Brewer employees may send an email to Walter Boright at drbori@aol.com.
