First “Build Westfield” LEGO event

Fifty families came together to recreate historic buildings out of LEGO during the inaugural “Build Westfield” workshop held in the Roosevelt Intermediate School on February 11. Sponsored by the Westfield Historic Preservation Commission in collaboration with the Westfield Recreation Department, the sold-out program was a fun, interactive way to encourage awareness and appreciation of the town’s rich historic and architectural heritage.  Schools, houses of worship, commercial buildings and residences were among the many properties that families could choose to build using over 100,000 LEGO bricks provided by architect Stephen Schwartz of Building Blocks Workshop.  At the conclusion, the models were placed on a giant floor map of the town.
