Fanwood kids and cops have Halloween fun

The Cardoso family of Fanwood

Fanwood Police and Pumpkins event

Several dozen children and their families came to LaGrande Park Saturday to decorate pumpkins and share coffee with Fanwood police officers at the annual Police and Pumpkins event.

Officers supplied the pumpkins, markers and stickers while the children supplied the smiles and artistry. The group gathered under the park pavilion, though the weather was spectacular. It was a perfect event for families to walk to on a Saturday morning.

Councilwoman Trisha Walsh, chairperson of the Council Public Safety Committee, was on hand in her best witch’s costume, along with fellow Councilwoman Gina Berry and Police Director Mike Bramhall. Police officers helping the kids and serving coffee were Lt. Dan Kranz, Sgt. Phil Ugone, Sgt. Dan Piccola, Officer Tyler Flowers and Officer Tim Green. Several of the officers were there on their own time.

Police and Pumpkins is one of many opportunities through the year for the community to interact with Fanwood police on an informal, one on one basis.
