Fanwood Poetry Series celebrates 25th Anniversary

Paul Muldoon, a renowned poet and winner of the Pulitzer and T.S. Eliot prizes, was the guest reader at a celebration held on September 26th, 2023, for the 25th anniversary of Fanwood’s Carriage House Poetry Series.

The event was organized and hosted by Fanwood’s Cultural Arts Commission co-chaired by Adele Kenny and Tom Plante, both published poets themselves. Adele is Fanwood’s award-winning Poet Laureate. Tom has published Exit 13 Magazine, a poetry travelogue, for 35 years.

Mr. Muldoon, a native of Northern Ireland, is the author of thirty poetry collections and is currently a professor at Princeton University. He read several of his works to a standing-room audience at the Patricia Kuran Arts Center, also known as the Carriage House. A highlight was his reading of the lyrics to the Warren Zevon song My Ride’s Here, which he wrote with the rock artist in the early 2000s several months before Zevon’s death.

Mayor Colleen Mahr was joined by Councilwomen Kathy Mitchell and Patricia Walsh in welcoming Mr. Muldoon to Fanwood.
