During the Fanwood Borough Council meeting held on May 21, 2018 Chief Richard Trigo honored a number of Fanwood police officers for meritorious actions in saving lives and assisting the public. Awards were given for two instances of drug overdoses which the officers saved the victims by administering Naloxone, making arrests in a home invasion, answering more than 300 calls for service during the nor’easter storms over a 30 hour period, and for solving a $200,000 online theft and stopping the stolen funds from being lost. The Chief also thanked the Mayor and Council for supporting his decision to send officer Elliot Bernard to Puerto Rico last fall to assist the local police there in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
